Bai Lei, researcher of IGG, has become a formal team member of the 27th overwintering expedition in Antarctic Zhongshan Station. He has gone through the strict selection of the polar region office of the national ocean bureau. He will carry out gravity solid tide and geomagnetic scientific research in Antarctic Zhongshan Station. His journey started at November 5 in shanghai with the investigate ship “snow dragon”, and the entire scientific research will last almost five hundred days.

There have been 13 persons from WHIGG participating in the South Pole investigation since the second South Pole scientific investigate in 1985.They carried out the measurement and research of the gravity field in Antarctic. They established gravity and solid tide observation platform in zhongshan and changcheng station, and carried out the measurement of gravity controlling net in these areas. They accumulated a lot of gravity measure materials during their research, and their research was awarded No. 3 natural science prize by Chinese Academy of Sciences.
