Doctor Tian Wei from Shanghai Astronomical Observatory visited IGG TEXT SIZE:A A A

Invited by State Key Laboratory of Geodesy and Earth`s Dynamics (SKLGED), doctor Tian Wei from Shanghai Astronomical Observatory visited Institute of Geodesy and Geophysics, Chinese Academy of Sciences (IGG, CAS) on June 29. He gave a lecture on Observe the Inverse Polar Motion Phenomenon of the Instantaneous Axis of Earth by Large Circular Laser Gyro Data. The seminar was held by researcher Yan Hao ming. Present at the meeting were researcher Wang Yong, researcher Zhong Min, researcher Liu Gen you and other students.

Doctor Tian introduced the main application of large laser gyro in earthquake, tides and earth rotation and compared the large laser gyro with the traditional observation techniques such as VLBI. He also presented the structure and theory of the large laser gyro, the method of observing the earth rotation using large laser gyro, and elaborated on the inverse polar motion phenomenon of the instantaneous earth’s axis.

During the seminar, doctor Tian had a deep discussion with the audiences about the drift, laser and process of observation data of the large laser gyro.
