Academic conference, Workshop on Modern Geodesy and Geophysics & Congratulation Professor Rongjiang Wang on Winning the “Ernst v. Rebeur-Paschwitz Preis”, was held on November 20 in Institute of Geodesy and Geophysics(IGG). Academician Houze Xu, professor Rongjiang Wang, researcher Yong Wang, Heping Sun, Weijian Mao, Hansheng Wang, Sidao Ni, Yong Zheng attended the conference. The conference was hosted by researcher Xiong Xiong. 

During the conference, researcher Weijian Mao gave an academic report “The Research Status and Prospect of Seismic Migration Imaging”, researcher Sidao Ni gave an academic report“Seismic Wave Motivated by Explosion”, researcher Yong Zheng gave an academic report“Research on Character of Seismic Focus Based on Geodesy and Earthquake Data” and researcher Hansheng Wang gave an academic report “Two Problems of Hydrological Geodesy”. 

German Geophysical Union awarded professor Rongjiang Wang who was a Chinese-German scientist working in German Research Centre for Geosciences (GFZ) with the “Ernst v. Rebeur-Paschwitz Preis” and Rongjiang Wang became the fourth scientist and the first ethnic Chinese scientist to receive this prize."Academic achievements of professor Rongjiang Wang hold great significance for research on seismology, earthquake triggering and earthquake warning" professor Hans-Joachim Kümpel, chief of German Earth Science and Resources Bureau, said at the award ceremony. 

Professor Rongjiang Wang studied for his master degree in geodesy and geophysics during 1982 to 1983 in IGG, and his tutors were academician Jun Fang and academician Houze Xu. Then he came to Germany to study for his doctorate with the recommendation of Houze Xu.
