Invited by State Key Laboratory of Geodesy and Earth`s Dynamics (SKLGED), researcher Shi Jiancheng from Institute of Remote Sensing and Digital Earth (RADI) visited Institute of Geodesy and Geophysics (IGG) and gave an academic report “Global Water Cycle Observation Mission” on September 8. Academician Xu Houze, deputy director Wang Yong, Ni Sidao, researcher Sun Heping, Wang Hansheng, Zhong Min, Liu Lintao and so on more than 30 scientific research personnels and graduate students attended the report.
The report emphatically introduced the research background and key problems of “Global Water Cycle Observation Mission”, which was sponsored by Chinese Academy of Sciences (CAS). It was the first earth-space science satellite program in our country, and the first scientific satellite program for observing land, ocean and water cycle synthetically in the world. After the report, researcher Shi Jiancheng also had a deep discussion with the audience, which contributed in a big way to our academic exchange and cooperation.
Shi Jiancheng has mainly worked on microwave remote sensing and water cycle researching. He is the chief scientist of water cycle satellite program in our country, the inductee of “Recruitment Program of Global Experts”, the fellow of Institute of Electrical and Electronics Engineers (IEEE) , the fellow of Society of Photo-Optical Instrumentation Engineers (SPIE).
