Researcher Lei Xinglin from AIST Visited IGG TEXT SIZE:A A A

Invited by State Key Laboratory of Geodesy and Earth`s Dynamics (SKLGED), researcher Lei Xinglin from National Institute of Advanced Industrial Science and Technology(AIST) visited Institute of Geodesy and Geophysics(IGG) and gave an academic report "Geomechanic modelling for rock deformation and seismicity induced by fluid injection" on March 24.

The report introduced firstly in Thermo-hydro-Mechanical Coupled Modeling and its application of CO2 underground storage, geothermal development and hydraulic fracturing induced earthquake research. Then professor Lei showed seismic activity analysis software named "GeoTaos", and introduced its application of water-injection-induced earthquake sequence in Rongchang and Zigong region. He utilized seismic waveform data and rock mechanics simulation method to analysis the seismogenic mechanism of Suining Tongnan’s earthquake on January 31, 2010 and revealed that deep gas reservoir was the cause of this earthquake. Professor Lei also discussed hydraulic fracturing and seismic activity of shale gas in Sichuan Basin. The audiences had a deep discussion with professor Lei at the end of the report.

Professor Lei is mainly engaged in seismology, CO2 underground storage, geothermal resource utilization. He is an authoritative expert in rock mechanics and acoustic emission experiment and application technology, statistical analysis of seismic data, numerical simulation of seismic dynamics and so on.
