Professor Huang Qinghua from Peking University Visited IGG TEXT SIZE:A A A

Invited by State Key Laboratory of Geodesy and Earth`s Dynamics (SKLGED), professor Huang Qinghua from Peking University visited Institute of Geodesy and Geophysics(IGG) and gave an academic report "Study on electromagnetic numerical simulation of co-seismic" on March 31.

The report introduced firstly in generalized seismo electric phenomena. He showed the phenomenon of co-seismic electromagnetic along with the Wenchuan earthquake. Then he introduced numerical simulation of co-seismic electromagnetic based on the theoretical seismogram algorithm and the electrokinetic effect, discussing the result of point source and finite-fault surface source. It showed a clear signal of co-seismic electromagnetic along with seismic wave and a weak signal of seismic rupture that can help to study Earthquake early warning and the change of salt structure. Professor Huang made a conclusion on the phenomenon of co-seismic electromagnetic in field electromagnetic observation, data processing method and the physical interpretation. The audiences had a deep discussion with professor Huang about numerical simulation of co-seismic electromagnetic at the end of the report.

Professor Huang is mainly engaged in Earth Interior Physics and Earth Electromagnetism. He was elected to Changjiang scholar in University of Ministry of Education of China, and he is also a member of International Union of Geodesy and Geophysics(IUGG).
