Researcher He Rizheng from Chinese Academy of Geological Sciences Visited IGG TEXT SIZE:A A A

Invited by State Key Laboratory of Geodesy and Earth’s Dynamics (SKLGED), researcher He Rizheng from Chinese Academy of Geological Sciences visited Institute of Geodesy and Geophysics(IGG) and gave an academic report in title “Geological Problems and Research Progress in the Middle Qinghai-Tibet Plateau” on Oct 25.

The report firstly introduced the tectonic features and the plateau uplift pattern.  Then, the key issues and research progress on the volcanic rocks in the south of Tibet, the Qiangtang and the northern part of Tibet were introduced in detail. Professor He elaborated on where the Indian continent lithosphere extends, east-west extensional mechanism in the southern Tibet, the genesis of the Gangdese metallogenic belt, the nature of the Qiangtang uplift and the subduction polarity of the Nujiang suture in the Bangong Lake and other issues. The report showed professor He and his team for many years of research results. After the meeting, professor He and participants made in-depth discussions on the gravity balance anomalies in the Qaidam Basin.

Researcher He received his Ph.D. degree from Chinese Academy of Geological Sciences structural geology in 2003. He is mainly engaged in deep structure exploration and tectonics (especially on the Tibetan Plateau and no-man's land in northern Tibet).
