Invited by State Key Laboratory of Geodesy and Earth’s Dynamics (SKLGED), professor Sun Qizhen from Huazhong University of Science and Technology visited Institute of Geodesy and Geophysics(IGG) and gave an academic report on title “Advanced Optical Fiber Sensing Technology for Seismic Wave Detection” on Nov 9.
The report firstly introduced the advantages of optical fiber sensing technology in observational layout and introduced the main achievements of Huazhong University of Science and Technology in optical fiber sensing technology from three aspects: high precision optical fiber inclinometer based on fiber grating and fiber laser resonance beat frequency; Optical fiber DBR laser high-precision micro-vibration accelerometer, and time division multiplexing multi-point acceleration sensor network; distributed optical sensing system based on micro-structured fiber, using variety of microstructures to achieve signal efficiency, and thus to achieve broadband, long-range, high-sensitivity seismic wave measurements. During the discussion, attendees conducted in-depth discussions on many technical issues such as "zero drift" and "three-component observation" during the monitoring of seismic waves by optical fiber sensors, and achieved good communication results.
Professor Sun Qizhen is mainly engaged in micro-structure optical fiber devices, sensing technology and application research.
