Dr. Zdenek Stachoň from Masaryk University, Czech Republic Visited IGG TEXT SIZE:A A A

Invited by State Key Laboratory of Geodesy and Earth’s Dynamics (SKLGED), Dr. Zdenek Stachoň and Dr. Radim Štampach from Masaryk University, Czech Republic visited Institute of Geodesy and Geophysics(IGG) and gave academic report respectively in title “Cognitive research in cartographic visualization-selected examples” and “Cartographic of health data: way to inform people”on Nov 23.

The report of Dr.Zdenĕk Stachoň mainly introduced visualization and its application, expounded the related content of cognitive research, and gave an example analysis of virtual three-dimensional mapping and map symbolization in static or interactive scenes. Dr.Radim Štampach's report is focused on the visualization of health data on a global scale, why mapping of health data, and introduced the reason to map health data, how maps are used in public health data, how to visualize health data and internationally available health data Gallery in detail. After the report, the participants held in-depth discussions with the two experts on relevant issues and achieved good results in the exchange.

Dr.Zdenĕk Stachoň is an assistant professor of geography at Masaryk University, Czech Republic, and is mainly engaged in the research of map design, cognitive mapping and map symbolization. Dr.Radim Štampach is a GIS expert in the Department of Geography, Masaryk University, Czech Republic. His main research interests are open source GIS, humanography and health statistics.
