Professor Ludwig Stroink from Helmholtz Association of Germany Visited IGG TEXT SIZE:A A A

Dr. Ludwig Stroink, head of the International Cooperation Coordination Group of the Helmholtz Association (HELMHOLTZ) and head of international cooperation at the Helmholtz Potsdam Center (GFZ), led a delegation to the Institute of Geodesy and Geophysics, Chinese Academy of Sciences(IGG,CAS) on May 11.

Stroink and his team listened to the introduction of the IGG and research progress of the geodetic survey, and discussed the satellite geodesy, gravity satellite data application, and earthquake early warning monitoring. Dr. He Hong, Chief Representative of Helmholtz Association of China, introduced the more than 30 years cooperation relationship between the research institutes of the CAS and other scientific research institutions such as DESY, DLR, FZJ, GSI, etc. He also made a detailed introduction for future cooperation plans. Stroink presented the six research field of the Helmholtz Association and highlighted the research areas related to IGG such as “Earth and Environment”, “Aerospace and Transportation”.

Two sides hope to combine the Helmholtz Potsdam Center (GFZ), the German Space Agency (DLR) and other applications in satellite observation data, the precise processing and application of satellite navigation data in IGG, gravity data processing and application, seismic theory research and applications, etc. They hope to carry out relevant strategic cooperation, and through closer cooperation to deal with future issues of global satellite navigation system development domain compatible interoperability, global climate and sea level change, and disaster early warning monitoring.
