Dr. Francisco Azpilicueta from La Plata University of Argentina Visited IGG TEXT SIZE:A A A

Invited by State Key Laboratory of Geodesy and Earth’s Dynamics (SKLGED), Dr. Francisco Azpilicuera from La Plata University of Argentina visited Institute of Geodesy and Geophysics(IGG) and gave an academic report titled “GESA Group from the Universidad Nacional de La Plata–Argentina Research on GNSS for remote sensing and positioning” on Sept 27. The academic report was hosted by researcher Yuan Yunbin.

The report firstly introduced some basic information about universities and research institutions in Argentina, and highlighted the research results conducted by GESA laboratory of La Plata University over the past few years. The development and application of the LPIM (La Plata Ionospheric Model) were explained in detail. During the period, Dr. Azpilicuera introduced the LPIM used for generating the global ionospheric VETC and compared it with existing internationally released ionospheric products. After the report ended, the participants had an in-depth discussion with Dr. Azpilicuera which achieved good communication results.

Francisco Azpilicuera is currently an assistant professor in the Department of Astronomy and Geophysics at La Plata University in Argentina and a research fellow at the National Research Council of Argentina (CONICET). He has engaged in ionospheric and geodetic research at GESA Laboratory more than 20 years. Dr. Azpilicueta's main research field is ionospheric modeling based on GNSS ground and spatial data, and he has made significant contributions to the development of the LPIM.
