Invited by the institute of geodesy and geophysics, Prof. Wolfgang Jacoby from University of Mainz visited our institute and gave us a wonderful lecture. Deputy director Xiong Xiong presided over the meeting.
Prof. Jacoby gave a lecture on the theory of gravity inversion and thermal column in Iceland, and explained the relationship between the gravity, topography and lava. By years of data about the topography and the change of gravity, Prof. Jacoby analyzed the relationship between them and researched the moving of underground mass and the change of the interstice. From the lecture, we can understand deeply the moving of underground mass(such as volcano, underground water, the holding of CO2 and so on).
After the lecture, Prof. Jacoby and the participator discussed freely, and they exchanged ideas on the problems of the processing and analysis of the gravity data.
