International Experts from Wetland Program of GEF Visits IGG TEXT SIZE:A A A
 

On September 5, five scientists and government officers visited IGG. Among them are Dr. Mark Johnstad of GEF(Global Environment Facility), project manager Dr. Ma ChaoDe of UNDP(United Nations Development Programme) and officers of Jingzhou Municipal Administration of Hong Hu Wetland.

Accompanied by Dr. Wang XueLei and Dr. Cai XiaoBin, the visiting delegation visited the Key Laboratory of Hubei Environment and Disaster Monitoring and Evaluation at IGG. Commissioned by the State Forestry Administration, Dr. Wang XueLei has been in charge of protecting biodiversity in wetland and planning protected land in this program. This 5-year program of GEF will start in 2013 in Hubei province.

The GEF provides grants for projects related to biodiversity, climate change, international waters, land degradation, the ozone layer, and persistent organic pollutants. Seven related programs have been operated in China since 2012 as the fifth program of GEF in China.
