Dr. Zhang Baohua from Okayama University visits IGG TEXT SIZE:A A A

At the invitation of the State Key Laboratory of Geodesy and Earth’s Dynamics, Dr. ZHANG Baohua from Okayama University visited WHIGG on Nov. 13th, 2012. Dr. ZHANG delivered a scientific speech titled “Electrical and diffusivity properties of mantle minerals and its geophysical applications”.

Electrical conductivity is an important geophysical parameter.Measurements of the electrical conductivity of minerals and rocks provide a powerful tool for probing temperature, chemical composition, mineralogy, oxygen fugacity, water content of the Earth’s interior.Dr. ZHANG introduced the new method to measure electrical conductivity of the main mantle minerals based on high temperature and pressure. He also introduced a wide range of applications of mantle minerals’ electrical conductivity in geophysics.

Deputy director of SKLGED, Dr. Wan Hansheng, chaired the meeting. Researchers and students at IGG discussed with Dr. ZHANG deeply on hot topics in his research filed.
