Invited by Key Laboratory for Environment and Disaster Monitoring and Evaluation(Hubei), professor Tuwei from Georgia Southern University visited Institute of Geodesy and Geophysics(IGG) and gave an academic report “Applications of Hierarchical Regression Model in Public Health Research” on December 7th.
Professor Tuwei firstly introduced the fundamental tasks of spatial epidemiology and the advantages of Hierarchical regression Model in processing nested structure data. Then, he showed us how to build hierarchical regression model with an instance--premature babies of Georgia. He explained the results of this model and discussed how to design and perfect measures to prevent premature delivery with the help of the model we built. After the report, the audiences and professor Tuwei had a deep going discussion about the applications of hierarchical regression model in our country's public health. This academic report expanded the research view of teachers and students.
Professor Tuwei has mainly worked on geographic information science and spatial statistical analysis. He is a life member of Chinese Professionals in Geographic Information Systems(CPGIS), and he is a member of American Association of Geographers and the Health and Medical Geography Special Group.
