Honghu Wetland Eco-experimental Station was founded in 1992 by Chinese Academy of Sciences (CAS) as a long-term comprehensive multi-disciplinary research base for the researches of the wetland resources, environment and ecology in the Middle Reaches of the Yangtze River. It locates on the beaches of Honghu Lake in Jianghan Plain and represents the character of the north subtropical agricultural and wetland ecological area in the middle reaches of the Yangtze River. The station is now directed by the Institute of Geology and Geophysics, CAS (IGG).The main aim of the station is to monitor the complex system of constructed wetlands and natural wetlands. Besides, it is a key station of the ecological and environmental monitoring system for the Three Gorge Project, monitoring the groundwater and the gleying process of soil. |
